360-Degree Body Lift
360-Degree Body Lift
What is a 360-Degree Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy)? A 360-Degree Body Lift, also known as a Belt Lipectomy, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat and sagging skin from the mid and lower abdomen, outer thighs, buttocks, and lower back. During the procedure, the abdominal muscles are sutured and strengthened, and the tension in surrounding areas is increased to create a firmer, more contoured appearance. To be eligible for this surgery, the patient’s Body Mass Index (BMI) must be 30 or below. Contact us to get more information about the 360-degree body lift.
How is a Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy) Performed? The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The total operation time varies from patient to patient but typically ranges between 4 to 5 hours. Post-surgery, there will be an incision line starting 8-10 cm below the belly button at the pubic hairline. It is strategically placed to remain hidden within underwear and extends continuously towards the buttock crease.
Once the surgery is complete, the incision is closed with hidden subcutaneous stitches and covered with dressings. One or two tubes, called drains, are temporarily placed to remove any excess fluid that may collect in the area. A compression garment that completely wraps around your waist and suture lines is fitted to securely support the surgical area. A urinary catheter is usually inserted during the surgery for use on the first day and will be removed once you are able to stand up.
How Should You Prepare for the Surgery? Before the operation, all your blood tests will be carefully reviewed. If necessary, supportive treatments will be initiated to properly prepare you for surgery. If you smoke, you must stop smoking 3 weeks prior to the surgery and continue to abstain until the end of the third week post-surgery. It has been proven that smoking before surgery significantly increases the risk of complications such as bleeding, impaired wound healing, and incision breakdown.
You should also avoid excessive sun exposure in the preoperative period, as it reduces overall body and skin resistance. If you are taking Vitamin E or aspirin, these must be discontinued at least one week prior to the procedure.
How is the Compression Garment Used After Surgery? A special compression garment must be worn day and night for four weeks.
What is the Recovery Time After Surgery? Although it varies depending on individual body structures, full recovery after a body lift surgery takes between 3 to 9 months. Following the procedure, initial skin healing takes about 10-15 days, while the final body contouring process takes 3-4 months. The body generally achieves its permanent final shape after 6 months.
When Can I Exercise After Surgery? Exercise is not recommended for the first 6 weeks following the operation. However, patients are highly encouraged to take light, regular walks to support blood circulation and healing.
